my TB gelding came in with a tiny cut just below his hock on the outside of his hind leg.
no problems with it till now. now his fetlock has gone puffy and upwards towards his hock where that has gone slightly puffy. no heat anywhere neither!
he is walking fine on it and doesnt appear too lame.
now im going to poultice it this evening, thensee how that goes, then obviously the vet will be called as its prob a antibiotics job!

any other ideas from peeps?

Could be lymphangitis/cellulitis starting? My TB mare gets this even if she gets a tiny scratch, and putting any form of poultice/powder/spray on it makes it worse. Vet normally gives her a few injections, and I cold hose it. I'd get your vet out or at least call him and ask his opinion.

I have had 3 full TBs and 2 of them (one we curently own) would get the tiniest scratch and it could be guaranteed they would have a big leg the next day!! Sometimes needed antibiotics and sometimes got away without them. They are such a pain!

My TB had tiny scratch on off rear cannon bone 10 days ago, had heat in it but took scab off and 4 days cold hoseing and its nearly gone. TB tend to have tiny cuts and its a big deal!!!
