Lovely! one day i would like a foal out of my TB mare and thought a nice middle weight would be nice :)

Sorry...he's gorgious! Sucker for welshies though, specially dark and handsome ones!

Splitty - He was 18.2, nearly touching 18.3 abouts. Measuring stick ran out at 18hh on him and was a couple of inches higher than the top lol x

We have one at work, he is a complete gentle giant. He is lovely, but is sometimes a bit of a copycat (10 mins after the event has occured - he is a bit slow!) and is a big sod to throw his weight about!

Riding wise he is lovely, bit big for me (I'm only 5ft1!) but he is a saint and very capable. If I was taller I would get one.

I adore Shire x TBs. The original british warmblood! :D

Never met a bad one next. Also the best driving horse I have the privilege of working with was a shire/ID/TB bred for hunting. He was amazing.

I have one but some ID in there too. He is so talented but very quirky too. Scared of his own shadow but not scared of normal things like plastic bags in bushes etc, will try to put a piccy on, its been seen before so sorry to those who have seen it.

Jerry and Devon - its a fab breed, i've had jerry 12 years easy peasy to back, fantastic attitude, not really built for serious jumping but was going great guns in dressage (schooling ele showing promise for medium before injury stopped any training higher than novice :( )

Devon's 2 and so far seems to be along the same lines

Can't reccommend this breed highly enough ! - both are out of shire mares :)

I think they are gorgeous. I used to work with a TBxShire called Mayfair, think she was about 16.1-16.2hh. She was the most gorgeous and well behaved but fun horse I have ever met. She would happily take a complete novice around a course of jumps and make them feel like so confident, but she would also go up a gear when asked for the more experienced rider and God she was fun!

She was so honest as well. For one of the riding school competitions we held some showjumping on the pony of the clients choice (bad idea I did tell the boss) The poor girl went around the course 6 times at different heights, never put a foot wrong and cleared every time.

Never met a difficult one yet :)

Yes, i have a 21 month old Shire x TB and have had him since he was 12 months old.
He's so calm and placid, such a sweetie.
His dad is a 17.2hh dapple Grey Shire and his mum is a 16.1hh TB mare. The shire side i can trace back 5 generations in the stud book and his mum 2 generations.
He's already 15.3hh!!!
Although at the moment he looks more TB than shire...in fact the only part of him that looks shire is his main and tail!!!
His dad has won many stallion shows and when not showing or being used for stud work he pulls carriages for weddings etc. His mum jumped 1m tracks and then Intro Dressage until her injury and she became a broodmare.
I feel really proud that i have seen his parents and know their history.
I don't ride anymore (due to injury & confidence issues) but with his floaty paces and massive jump (jumped a 5ft fence from a standstill at 13 months!!!) I think he's going to excel at either dressage, Show Jumping, x-country or even show hunter?!!?
When he's 3 and a half i'll be getting a pro in to back him and then advertising for someone to take him to the top...As you can tell I'm a very proud mummy!!!!
Some people turn their noses up as soon as they hear the word Shire...one woman at my yard even asked why i bought a "cart horse"!!! But she has since changed her mind and has offered to buy him....Not for sale!!!!
From the experience i have had with my lad so far i would recommend anyone going for a Shire x TB. :D

My OH used to love the TB X Shires he rode, more like the slightly lighter ones on this thread than the heavy first beauty shown. He also had a Hanovarian or Holsteiner X Shire - also a beauty. No photos I am afraid. Sorry
You all have beautiful horses though:D

I ride one occasionally at the RS and although he wont win any beauty contests and is 22, he is very responsive and such a sweet character. From the ground he looks a lot smaller about 15hh, but really he is about 16hh. Just the sort of horse Id like to own!
