TB's shoes and all this mud

How are everyone's TB's feet doing in all this mud? My mare was done just before Christmas and the farrier put lightweight shoes on her front to stop them from being sucked off in the mud. So far so good but I'm noticing one of the nail holes getting bigger so am keeping an eye on it. It's on her rubbish off-side fore hoof too. Overreach boots keep getting sucked off in the mud too.

All this mud makes me wish I had a big robust hoofed coblet! :p
 
Oh golly, mine back from field holiday tomorrow and dread to imagine what feet will be like, been picking out in field but its only to check shoes and feet ok. It's so muddy.
 
My TB is shod in front and for the first time in a while actually kept both shoes on between visits. I do have them done every 5 weeks though :o
 
My tbs bare as well so wouldn't know.
My farrier thought mine couldn't go bare as well but feet are improving by the week. Well impressed
 
Done 6 weeks ago and no shoes off *smug* up on Monday to do her feet again. Saying that, she used to pull a shoe off a week then I addressed her diet and took off her back shoes and have only had one of since august and that's because she went running around like a loony when we changed fields! :p
 
Sorry to tell you that mine is now nearly 8 weeks since shoeing and all of them are still intact despite our clay mud mess of a paddock.
He's only ever pulled one shoe in 3 years so farrier must be doing something right! (and hopefully diet is good too, I feed for feet as if barefoot!)
Does yours have quarter toe clips or single toe clips?
 
Mine was shod less than 4 weeks ago and pulled one off on Saturday, along with part of her hoof :(

She's only half TB too :(
 
mine pulled one off the day after she had a new set but that got put back on and touch wood, she has kept them. I do have mild moments of panic when I can't see the shoes for the mud and have to stop her to pick up all four feet on the way in from the field just to make sure :) paranoid much :P

She has quarter clips as she needs her toes to be kept short and for support. I give her biotin supplements and limestone flour. My farrier has noticed a BIG difference in her feet with the addition of the flour (a full scoop in her feed twice a day).
 
Mine hasn't lost any shoes but he has an abscess, something we've never had before. Fields are just so wet and muddy
