I thought this would be the best place to post this - I have never understood the whole genotype things and how they are determined and now all my university assignments are done for a few months I would love to try and learn about them in my spare time :)

Does anyone have any good websites or anything where I could read up on it? Are they really that important in the breeding world? I'd love to learn as I'm pretty blind about these things :)

I used to have a great book on horse colour genetics that started off really easy,

I suppose it's useful to know about inheritance when considering health and disease and colours fm that is a deal breaker but not essential. I do find it fascinating though! You could start with a basic GCSE biology book if you have no knowledge at all?

Dr Mark of Upsala University in Sweeden is a leading expert on this subject and you will find a lecture by him on the WBFSH website under the Warsaw 2013 Delegate Confernace you will also find the paper on Linear Evauluation of Sports Horses by a person from VIT also as very interesting. Genomic Selection in Horse Breeding by Thomas Mark
