teaching a horse to lunge

I want to lunge my lad occasionally during the winter. I'm quite good at lunging an established horse, and my sisters horse really benefits from it. But my lad either hasn't been lunged much or properly, or something/someone has frightened him whilst lunging.

How do you teach a horse to lunge?

one person leads the horse the other on the lunge line, make sure the person leading does not talk to the horse, i only had to do this once with our pony and he picked it up.
