How would you do it?

I have recently started some ground work to get 2 of my friends fillies ready for backing. One is 4 and the other is 3. Had our first attempt at lunging last week, the 4 year old was brilliant, picked it up after 10 minutes and was really listening to my body language and very responsive. She may have been lunged before she came here, as she was lunging like a pro after 10 mins.

The 3 year old however i could not get to move! She is so laid back, and even flicking the lunge whip at her doesn't even make her blink. I had someone run round out on the circle leading her for a bit and she was much better but once they moved away she just stopped. I tried with longreins instead, thinking at least i could keep her out on the circle. But that's not an issue when i can't even get her to walk lol!

Going to do some in hand leading work to get her used to voice aids, but anyone got any other ideas?

By the way, i'm not going to do a lot of lunging, want them out and about in a bridle and longreins soon. This is just to get them started and listening to voice aids, will keep the sessions short.
