Teaching this to your horse using ropes...

I don't have a problem with it at all, I wonder what method the Cavalry use for their musical ride?

With regards to that clip: In that particular case the handler appeared to know what she was doing and the horse did too, loved that he asked for his treat when he was down.

To me, that didn't look stressful for the horse at all. I have seen far, far worse laydowns, with, and without ropes.

The horse has obviously had a lot of preparatory work and is very tolerant. But it still does not want to do it. And i think it's kind of forceful. And i see no use, particularly in this instance. Worse things have happened to horses. But i'm not a fan of this.

I bet my guy would do that without ropes if he thought a carrot was in order, dont think the horse was stressed out at all, and as someone previously posted, calvary prob do it worse!!!!

Cavalry method is to stand at near side, pull offside reins towards saddle and pull cantle towards you.

Simples. Well not actually, it takes a long time to teach a horse to do this.

It was on that horse programme on BBC about a year ago. Do you remember? One chaps horse wouldn't do it and he couldn't parade in front of the queen.
