I would like to teach my fidget bum of a horse to ground tie as he is the most impatient horse I have ever known, and I think this will help us overcome our problems with tying too (although he has got a lot better).
Firstly, can someone please explain how I teach this? Do I drop the rope, and put him back in his place every time he moves?
Secondly, I don't have a proper surface and do all my schooling on grass. Surely he will just start eating and not really 'get' the lesson?
I was thinking of maybe getting a rubber mat or something and teaching him to stay stood on that, but was wondering what others thought?
