I picked Teal up last Monday from the kennels and at lunch time I noticed he had a hole in his paw just below his dew claw.

Too him to vet as it just gaped so needed something to hold it together. He Then pulled the staples out Wednesday so went in and had a proper dressing on it. Went in today as dressing off and pus coming out he's got a temp, very swollen and generally p****** off now was invited to pick up partridge this week so we are both down in the dumps.

Two lots of anti biotics and NSAIDs and arnica sigh. Poor Black spangle face

Go an buy a pot of manuka honey (a minimum of 10+) and slap that on offending paw - will help heal it and get rid of the infection = happy Teal

Oh dear, he is really milking it isn't he! Sending loads of healing vibes .

Finally it seems to be almost healed to the point he is off lead allowed to go bonkers Which he did in find fashion with a pack of spaniels last night through every puddle, every pond, every wood and checked all the game cover, its ok friends farm.
It is literally a scab now

Can't believe such a small cut gave me so much grief and cost me £200!!! ended up bathing daily and using good old Camrosa, the answer to everything

Much happier dog now.

Doesn't look much but it went beyond the skin and just hung open on a part of his paw that moved all the time which is why he originally needed staples. Am worried about his Dew claws this season Fingers Crossed

Glad he is nearly healed, must be a relief to him (and you) to be able to run round again. Did the kennels ever say how he had done it?

No they rang me to see how he was last week and said they hadn't had any injuries all month. The dogs walk and play in their own paddocks which are post and rail so he literally has just been really unlucky.

Unless he did do it here at home in the garden between getting him home and noticing it, just I never saw it bleed at all so me and the vet assumed it was old.
