Been asked by 2 different teams - 1 good, 1 not so good lol to join their teams this back end now eventing has finished. Both are doing Intermediates now and one is hoping to move up to Opens after Xmas. Now i'm not keen on the open idea but just wondering - how big are intermediates and how mad do you need to be?!!!

Intermediates you'll find a doddle..generally. It's not so much the fences it's the speed in between that's the scary thing.

I used to ride a lot with the Cunning Stunts who now do the opens, but also rode in a few intermediate teams with Doyle (which was how he did his suspensory).

If you trust the people you go with then go for it. I wouldn't do it again though unless I knew the rest of the team well (who would go the speed they say they would, and take ground conditions into account etc etc).

You don't need to be mad to TC though. Well, I'm not...am I?

Intermediates are really nice!

Some are quite challenging and biggish but do-able. Can be scary in a fast team still, but you'll just have to see what the teams are up for and see if it suits you and your oss!

Not sure where you are but I'm in the north, some opens look mega scary but others aren't too bad - but most open teams are crazy!!

I'd go in the better team - nothing worse than being in a crap team!

thank you jo and starbucks! First one would be the Meynell this weekend, not sure what thats like??! The team i think i'd rather go with are slow, the ones going up to Opens are doing v v well at Intermediates and take it all v seriously! That said my horse has done it before and would go anywhere and is quite polite in that he will go what speed i say. He's done opens its me thats a wuss!!!

Not sure about the Meynell, i would imagine it will be quite big though. I think you should go for it with the good team. If i had a polite horse that had done it before I'd have a go!

I would not do the Open if you are on your Event horse

Things happen so much in Open Team Chasing, I always go and watch them (As they are so mad!).. I think if you have a horse that events at a high level or low level then I really would not do it.

I have seen many horses having to be put down at jumps from Broken Legs or Broken necks.
I know people will say yes this can happen in eventing, yes it can however Team chasing is a different thing to do! Hence why most insurance companies will not insure for Team Chasing.

I'm so torn, want to do it but don't want to do it!!! I said to my friend ohhh but I dont' want to break my horse and she said don't be silly he's 3DE fit and the grounds good! Can't use that excuse with them as they're all on eventers - 2 advanced an Intermediate!!

There's one team who ride in opens with a DR horse!!
I grew up with TC and its not all that scary as long as you have a horse capable of doing them, If you want to play it safe go in for the inters. I have rode in both novice and inters and as some one said they are easily do able! Its great fun...if we all ways thought of the might happens...we wouldnt take our horses out the stable!!
