hi everyone!

next season id really like to have a go at team chasing. i know you either have to have 3 or 4 riders and you have to be the fastest team and all of that.

what i really need to know is where they are around warwickshire and the west midlands. ive looked on a really old thread (2005) and they were on about affiliated. do you have to affiliate? how do you sign up? how much does it cost (entries and signing up)

anything that you know will be welcomed. i do know people who would probably do it with me so the team is fine. i was thionking 90cm or 1m - 90 to start though.

thankyou

I'm not entirely sure on the heights, but if it is your first teamchase I would start with a novice, just so your horses and your team mates get the hang of riding as a team- otherwise you may find you have four lead horses and no way of stopping them (and this has happened to me more than once before!)
I love teamchasing and I think it is an absolutely wonderful sport, unfortunately it has been host to a few brutal accidents and bad press over the previous few years and after a number of cancellations I do wonder how long it can carry on in it's present form.

If you only want to jump 1m you will be limited to novice. There are usually two novice classes, bogey (optimum time) and speed (fastest time).

Heights are as follows (taken from MFHA TCC rules):-

Novice = no fixed fence over 3'3 (this means hedges can be bigger)

Intermediate = no fixed fence over 3'9, although most are 3'6.

Open = most fixed fences are at least 3'6, there is no upper limit stated in the rules!

I went team chasing for the first time this year.

I went straight in at the intermediate at the heythrop as my first (i was on an experienced horse) when walking the course I realised just how big the fences are.

They are fixed at 3.6 alright but I did walk up to hedge's that were taller than me (im 5ft2) all that a side the fences were really inviting and jumped fantastically.

I am planning on starting my horse round a couple of novices this season coming but I wont be doing too much as she isn't really ready.

I was told to be doing open hunter trials with ease before doing one.

I do have some pictures of some of the jumps if you would like to see.

Hi Horsegirl
I am in your area, I do the Atherstone team chase which is in the area you mention, if you go on our website I think its got the date etc on the events page. Its a great day, nice flowing course and well organised etc. Also a very friendly hunt if you fancy a day out later on in the season!

Let me know if you need any more info.
