Does anyone have any any experience of re-habing a horse with a (previously) torn medial meniscus?

My friend and I have taken over the care of a horse on our yard to prevent him being PTS.

He is basically just a (big, daft, scatty) "pet" but we want him to be as comfortable as possible. Apparently in the past his vet has said he could be a very light hack but he's a bit of a daft horse and is quite happy playing with his pals and living a nice relaxed life.

We believe he suffered a tear to his medial meniscus maybe about 2 years ago and had an op at newmarket, it was found that the tear had tried to heal medially and he had some arthritic changes too.

We were wondering if anyone else had similar problems and how they helped their horse to become sound (or sounder).

Any help/comments/advice gratefully received )
