As you know exactly where the problem is, RVC in Herts will scan that part of the foot for £599..

why do you need to MRI it if you know what the problem is? Surely they can tell any changes on ultrasound? My horse did both the lateral and medial in both fronts, he had 9 months box rest and IRAP and shock wave. Personally I would be spending my money on that than a MRI. It is a relatively new combination that may or may not have worked and only a case history in America but it worked on my boy.

This would be my feeling too.

(((Hugs))). Only time will tell how well he'll come back, I personally think a lot of it depends on the horse's personality since some seem to come back when everything is against them while others that should recover fully never do. Modern science still can't allow or predict for that.

I presume the vet haas diagnosed the repeat injury? I only say that because it is so easy to have our attention diverted by a red herring!

What treatment did your horse originally receive? if money is tight I would opt for shockwave and shoeing rather than a repeat mri

^^ Excellent point. Jacob has had circa £8500 spent with 2 vet practices and 2 hospitals inc IRAP, Arthroscopy and MRI. He definately has had an issue with his off fore coffin joint but everyone who looks at him says he should be sound in normal nonjumping work- yet he is still lame :(
