After fighting kicking and squealing with another horse today, poor Teddy is lame. And i cant understand where is the problem. Is it shoulder, knee, foot? No heat, nothing(well, its very difficult to check for heat with his feathers) Waiting for vet to call back for hour now, just wanted an advice.:( If not better tmrw, definitely vet's visit:(

Just spoken to vet over the phone,he said cold hose it and had a look tmrw,if its no better or worse, then someone will come to have a look at him:( Poor boy,we had him only a week, and now he lame:( I think cos he so heavy and been kicking out, maybe he just put too much weight on poor leg and strained a muscle or something like that:(

Hopefully he will be showing signs of improvement by morning. Heavies are fairly resiliant generally. A tree (yes tree!) fell on my shire last year resulting in his leg to swell to twice the size it should have been. Queue one shocked vet, a course of antibiotics and painkillers and some muscle gel later (and an unwanted vets bill!!) and he was right as rain. Lame for less than 48 hours, and when I say lame more careful with the leg than full blown lamness, and no lasting damage done. (Thank blooming goodness!!) Fingers crossed hes just pulled something and is a little stiff. He is a beauty. If you ever get bored... lol.

Oh no! There's always something!
Fingers crossed that he's done something minor and will be showing much improvement. We once called the vet for our cob who was hopping lame. Vet said she thought the cob must have flicked a stone up onto her knee, hooning about in the field (although I'd NEVER seen the mare hooning, just not her style). We cold hosed and rested, she was absolutely fine the next day.

Well, after vet's appointment Teddy on bute and box rest for a week at least:(Oh joys of mucking out:)! Vet found he quite sensitive in the hoof,so most likely that the reason of lameness.Nothing about lump on his knee. Have to wait and see now,if after week of box rest/bute still lame, then x-rays,blha blha blha:( Im so sad.
