Hi peeps, it has always been my intention to show Teddy. I believe the experience is really valuable in introducing them to the outside world and stands them in good stead for the future. Plus he is totally gorgeous...to me! Kinzzy has been show extensively and she is fab in traffic, hussle and bussle etc.

Plus, i'd always intended travelling him alone and showing him alone for day one. The reasoning being that it would teach independance, learn him to travel alone etc and stop any clinginess starting.....however, now I am getting to know him and after his previous behaviour jumping over stable doors to get to kinzzy and generally not feeling confidence enough yet to be left alone....I feel the right thing to do would be to take Kinzzy along to his first few shows. I'd also be able to enter Kinzzy in the show too!

He's heaps better due to getting his stable mirror and me grazing them apart during the day (they can still see each other) but I don't want to take the risk of him injurying himself and un-doing all the good work we have done together. Does anyone have any experience of this situation or any advice they would like to share? Much appreciated!

Probably should say that I have practised travelling them both and its going really well...Kinzzy is such a calming influence!

Yep great idea thisis exactly what i did with my youngster and he is now fab. You could perhaps load him on his own and just take him for a drive round the block on his own a few times so that he realises he'll still get to come back to see his friend its not for ever. Best of luck x

Thanks both, I feel this is the best way but also know its not without its drawbacks. Lesser of two evils I think!

I would do what instinctively comes to mind... which is obviously travelling them together.

I had no choice with Starsky but to travel him on his own and for the first few times I travelled him loose, with all the partitions removed, top doors shut. straw 'bed' etc. My theory being that if he did panic, there was much less he could injure himself on/with. Once I was happy that he was happy with it all I travelled him as normal, tied up with partitions in.

As others have said. Try him round the block on his own a few times just for the experience but for teh main event he'll probably be happier with his aunty Kinzzy there ;)

Will be watching this thread closely.
Hoping to travel my 3yr old this year for the first time to some local shows, hoping she should be fine

Thanks for your advice, much appreciated. Plan A was always to go it alone but my head (and heart) say take Kinzzy at first. Its a very local small show, Kinzzy could be in the ring even if not being judged. Don't have to leave either one of them at the trailer and I will be handling Teddy anyway....hubby gets the job of handling Kinzzy.

I'll let you all know how we do.....with pics! The show is Sun 5th June. Watch this space! LOL
