can you teach them anything new ? one of the liveries on our yard is off to college in september so is loaning her pony out, she hasnt done a lot with him but he does jump etc. im not sure if she does/has done any schooling with him and wont find out properly until i sit on him. was just just wondering if he could be taught new things at his age. he is rising 16 and easy to do both ridden and on the ground.

a horse of any age can be taught something new its just the older ones tend to have picked up bad habits or be quiet stubborn

My horse is rising 16 and he was taught to go down on the bit when he was 14 and taught to jump coloured poles when he was 13 so yeah they can learn new things.

I got Chex when he was 16, and I've taught him loads. It might take a little longer than a young horse, but its definitely not impossible
