My 2 year old gelding has picked up warts on his nose and I was just wondering if there is anything I can put on them to get rid of them?

Also, I am thinking of taking him to some local shows to show him in hand, does anyone know if he will he get marked down for his teenage spots?

Thanks in advance!

Papillomas (warts) are caused by a virus. The immune system gradually gets rid of them on its own so you don't need to treat. A supplement to boost the immune system might help but they can go as quickly as they arrive and they rarely do any harm.

Not sure about marks being lost but they are very common in youngsters so if you are only doing youngstock classes I would presume that judges wouldn't be too harsh but I could be wrong - someone else might be able to give a better answer in this regard but I would show anyway - you can always ask the judge at the end of the class and the education of a day out at that age is just as important as a ribbon

Lovely little dapple grey Section A at my yard had warts all over his muzzle. And I mean dozens of them. Vet took a scraping - results = inconclusive! A year down the line, with NO treatment whatsoever, they've all gone. Just as well as the little pony has the most kissable nose in the whole of the UK. Unless YOU know better ..........................???

He'll grow out of them C.

Kia had them when she arrived and within months they had gone; Harry then got them and they went within weeks, Krypto has them now and has had them for just over a month and they are gradually going.

Alex said leave them be and they'll sort themselves out
