Please can somebody help me again, I posted when my boy was 2 as i have no experience with youngsters he is now 4 in March, my problem is he is so very grumpy when we feed him either hard food or haylage he was backed in September last and has no issues when being ridden, could his teeth be changing again he has tooth bumps on his jaw line, the vet is coming on Monday for his flu jab should i mention it, i am such a concerned mum he is so good in every way apart from the feed thing, any held would be appreciated

Yes my friend's horse was like this. Teeth are erupting and sometimes the baby teeth or caps are retained on top of the adult teeth. its very important to have horses' teeth regularly checked particularly for youngsters.

When the teeth are coming through it is painful for them and it is painful to eat.

Up until about the age of 6 years their teeth are still changing. If you are at all concerned get the vet to check him over to put ur mind at rest but sounds like eruption bumps to me. As HPL said, the baby teeth will be changing (incisors and premolars) and sometimes they cling on a little bit or don't come off fully in one go, just like when u had wobbly teeth as a kid.
