I've had one of my mares since last June and she has recently started 'clacking' her teeth. She doesn't do it when working but if we stand still then she sometimes starts. I have had her teeth checked and there is no problem with them but I'm puzzled as to why she's started doing it now  Anyone elses horse do this and have you found out why?

I used to ride a gelding that did this. When he was working in self carriage/outline, his jaw would relax so much his teeth could clack together - his ears would also flop out to the sides. When you got him going like that, you knew it was good day!

Yes! Mine does this and I can feel it down the reins :) My instructor didn't believe me and suggested he was just mouthing the bit but he does it in time with his steps when he's relaxed and working really well :) Glad I'm not just imaging it!

Sorry no suggestions for your situation tho, Spiritedly.
