My horse had his teeth done yesterday afternoon and they needed quite a lot of work and a special machine was used to clean out where he has a gap in his molars. He was sedated and needed 3 lots as the work took over 90 mins. I kept him in for a couple of hours after and then turned him out where he was fine. Checked on him last night and he was dribbling and had loads of saliva build up. I caught him washed his mouth out and he looked very sore. Today caught him first thing he is still not eating and still really dribbly and lots of saliva. He seems happy enough and I hope once everything has died down tonight he will be ok. But is this normal?

Can you maybe give him a bute or something just to take some of the pain away - i think it is normal for them to be a little sore after they have had their teeth done

Just a bit concerned about so much saliva - poor chap but he will feel so much better in a couple of days.

sounds like he is just a bit sore, perfectly normal after what he had done poor lad!! if we'd had something like that done we'd be sore too. Like vicster said mayb give him some bute to help him along (im suprised vet didnt give you any anyways) but im sure he'l be fine in a couple of days

I should not moan as it was done for free and my horse is a bit of a sensitive petal. Umm surprised about Vet as she watched whole thing did not even think about bute as all others who have had teeth done have been fine.
