My horse has got bad canine teeth, hes been a wee bugger to ride recently, loads of mini bucks in the arena but excellent out of it. His canine teeth are yellow/brown. My friend wanted to ride him today but another girl from the yard said he shouldnt be rode. The vet is coming out this week to give one of my other horses their 2nd injection, so getting him checked then.

The other girl at the yard rode him yesterday, but she used a different saddle, it was my old one and doesnt fit him right. I wasnt there and she said he played up (of course he would with the wrong saddle on). She put him out in the field saying he shouldnt be rode until the vet checks him.

Sorry this is more the rant, im annoyed that she just put him out and is telling me how i should treat all my horses! Yes i like to know where im going wrong but everyday im told what i should and shouldnt do

My old yard was like that - its makes your head spin doesnt it? Just say yes to everyone but only do what you think is best x

Sorry to hear your plight. I expect you have your horse at a yard where everyone wants to help. Remember these people think they are helping and if you dont want there advice then say so, in a roundabout way. dont be upset just enjoy your horses and seek proffesional advice rather than people at the yard!! hope you get sorted soon..

The wee girl is 18 and cause she goes to horse college, she comes back and tells everyone what they should and shouldnt do.

I brought my 2 pregnant mares in a few weeks back as the temperature was to reach -5, she said to me that i should keep them out and get them used to it. Grrr.

My tb has sarcoids which we are currently treating, i have overheard her tell a friend that he was ugly and soiled! Even though it was her dad that left him outside in the winter without rugs, in a field with no grass, not treating his sarcoids, until they spread and he was severely underweight! lol sorry

Thanks everyone, im unsure whether he should be rode or not. He goes really well outside the arena and with his new saddle on.

It just annoys me as she rode her horse with a sore mouth, and yes i enjoy advise when i need it, but not like that, it really sucks the fun out of it all!

Would any of yous ride him with his canine teeth like that?

When was the dentist last to him? If he was sore then I wouldn't ride.

However every yard has a busy body type. I was loading J once with no travel boots. This girl came storming up to me telling me I was going to have to have him shot when he broke his leg in the box and how dare I travel him with no boots.

fact is he caouldn't travel with boots as he was an ex racer who would come off the box like a thing posessed. Only travelled him if absolutly necessary. I told her that if she started paying for his keep then she could decide how he travelled, until then she was to keep her nose out.

See im really unsure, as he eats ok and he doesnt play up when i tack him up. Only time he plays up is when hes in the arena.

Its her dad that owns the yard, and she goes on like Miss Queen Of The Castle! I got Mae in december, hacked her out with hubby in January, she went so well. Was just leaving when she came out and said that i should get to know mae better before i take her out. Mae was a cart horse and i had walked her in hand on the road beforehand.

I am not going to pretend like i know everything, cause i dont. If i worry about my horses i call my vet or talk to my cousin whoses a riding instructor. I hate riding infront of her as im made to feel like im going totally wrong.

Sorry everyone had to rant, it just gets me down at times

May I ask why you think he has bad canines? sounds very unusual to me. The only real problems horses get with canines is that they can develop tartar (bulbus greeny/yellow stuff) or the canines grow too long sometimes. This very rarely affects the horse ridden though.
