New horse arrived yesterday and I have a couple of concerns.

She has lived out in a herd in the same home for the last couple of years, her new home is individual turnout with a horse in the next field. They can touch and groom over the post and rail. We may put them in together when they get to know each other a bit better.

I realised this morning that new girl hadn't drunk anything, so took a bucket of water over to her. She drank half. This afternoon I saw that the water level in the trug still hadn't gone down, OH took a bucket over to her and she again drank half. For some reason she didn't like going to the side of the field where the water trug was, as when we moved it to an area of the field she seems to hang out in, she drunk from it quite happily.

There were 8 poos out in the field this afternoon, 24 hours after she arrived. Whenever I drive past she is stood, head in the air, looking around. I have yet to catch her grazing, although she obviously is eating something, but I feel it is not enough. When OH and I are there she will happily stuff her face.

I am not concerned about her not drinking enough now we have moved the water trug, although I find it quite strange that she wouldn't seek out the water. With the grazing, I assume she will start to eat better when she settles, but should I be worried, or leave her to it and wait it out?
