Telescopic partitions allow you to make the berth slanted for bigger horses or for horses which travel better slanted than directly side to side. It reduces the space to carry the maximum number of horses.

I think h partitions are the ones that fix into the floor and ceiling instead of onto bars on the walls.

Strongest are partitions that attach wall to wall, some horses can lean so badly that they bow out the sides of a lorry.

I prefer fixed to telescopic, they are less fuss because they are always the right length.

Hope that helps.

I've just been through making no the decision on partitions for our new horse box, took me ages to make a decision.

I thought I wanted H partitions, they secure floor to ceilings and not to the front wall. I liked the fact it was easier to walk down the front and felt they looked smartest but I think my view was warped slightly by looking at the gorgeous Oakley Supreme they were in! The big negative is the reduced flexibility, you can change the width but not much to the angle.

In the end I have gone telescopic to give me lots of flexibility, I travel with anything from shetland mare and foals to big warm blood stallions so flexibility was key

Thank you.
Probably sounds a silly question but how do the h partitions open to horses in and out.
They look to have seperate headguards
Are you able to move the partition over.?.

We have telescopic partitions ... Not full height, about 2ft gap underneath so legs can be spread.

Have been adjusted to make different sized spaces for 11hh to 17hh . ..

H partitions still pivot at the back, at the horses head side you normally have to pull down the catch at the top and pull the bottom one up to release.

Yes you can usually move the partitions over but not once the horses are in, you'd need to decide on where to slot the back part of the H before loading as when you swing the partition to close you normally don't have many options as to where the catch will fit.

Head guards are normally removable or slot back

The other thing to note is that if you have a really bad traveller, the h partitions are not deeply fixed into the floor and ceiling and can fairly easily be pushed open by a determined big horse. I've had one. I had to add extra fixings that went right through the floor to stop him. He also thought that if I could walk down the front, so could he. Things were much easier when I changed to wall to wall fixings.
