Right then, this year I am going to get right on top of spraying the fields before it is too late. Every year I seem to look out the window one day and everything looks rosy, then the next we are knee deep in thistles and docks.

So, please would you knowledgeable lot spill the beans on what to use and when?!

I have about 20 acres (clay soil), not all of it bad, divided into 3 main fields and 3 smaller paddocks. I am happy to get a contractor out but I want the heads up before I ring them sounding gormless. I did have a man come to do half last year but it was too late and pretty much ineffectual and then he didn't bother with the rest. Oh yes, and I'd have to have it done in two sessions and rotate the horses.

Any info much appreciated - many thanks lovelies xxx

Ring some contractors and ask for their advice. Different areas are often done at different times due to different growth timings. eg. Cornwall will be in full bloom before the rest of the country, but will be behind the Isles of Scilly.
For best results you need to spray fairly early in the growing season.
