I know nothing of these at all.

I know some horses have them taken out, but why and can they lead a ridden life with them? Do just male horses have them?

Anything you can tell me would be great :O)

Thanks

I had my 2yr olds removed 2 months ago.vet said they were huge and quite flat.
I decided to have them took out to just rule out a potential problem when she is broken.

I would have them out for preference, but many horses have wolf teeth and never have a problem with them. When they are a problem they tend to be a BIG problem. There are different types, some are tiny (these tend to cause the worst probs, actually), some huge.

Before I broke my boy he had his teeth done, his wolf teeth (as Cortez noted) were the worst type, small and quite wobbly. They still however needed a good pull to extract them.
If he had been bitted with them the bit most likely would of hit them and caused a lot of pain (and a young horse to have aversion to the bit!). This is why its so important people have babies teeth done before they commence education!

However my hold boy had wolf teeth which never caused him an issue, they would of been a knock out power tool jobby to remove if they had needed to be taken out however.

I would always prefer for them to taken out at a young age if possible, buddy was just sedated and the vet pulled them. Bled abit but not badly and no more issue.

When I bought my boy as a 3yo, the vet told me (at the vetting) that he had wolf teeth and I should have them removed before using a bridle so that they dont cause a bad experience for him
He didnt even get sedated (there was a numbing gel though), he just stood and the dentist pulled them out :)
