Because i am very very bored!!

My first pony was Bonnie a bay 6yo 13hh Exmoor cross, she was difficult to handle, leaned heavily on the forhand, didn't load, didn't jump and was the houdini of the horse world!!

Now i have Pluto, a 15.1hh chestnut Connie x Arab, 18yo, loads on everything. jumps everything (usually) easy to handle, good to shoe but is a bugger to clip
Whats yours??

first pony was matrix- 11.3hh black welsh section a :)
he was sharp, a total speed demon, nappy. we would go hacking for hours, blasting across fields and he always kept me safe :) he escapes from fields, is caught on his own terms, full of himself (still have him lol- retired now through arthritus) grumpy, independant and thinks he knows best- but hes very special to me :) he goes showing at county level and is brilliant at shows
now i share a 13.2hh 12yr connemara mare called misty who is an absoloute treasure, priceless.
(my second pony has been retired through navicular and DDFT damage age 9.....)
she is really laid back, but lots of character, and so so genuine. always looks after me :) we do showing and dressage :)

My first pony after 8 yrs of begging my parents was sunny - 13.2 arab/welsh that said please for polo. Would not jump coloured jumps but jumped like a stag over x country jumps. was liver chestnut and so so pretty Sold him when I went to train in yard in surrey.

Now - my beautiful sec D Lay Polgara AKA Baby - was frightened stressed unrideable, dangerous " the bitch" destined for meat man- 4 yrs on my sweet kind happy rideable half blind 12 yr old thats my rock my soul mate my once in life time horse. Many horses and ponies have come and gone in work and leisure in my 41 yrs of horses but Baby well shes that one special horse xxxto my lass

My first pony was a shetland, called Beauty, 5 year old, 8hh2 (don't know what she was in inches!), first time Mum let me off the lead rein, it bolted straight up the road flat out! Wouldn't jump a pole, she had attitude!

I now have a 15 year old 16hh CobxTB, called Ballet, who is insane, we intermediate teamchase, Novice Event, and have a blast basically! She had this year off due to injury, but my aim, now she's better is to go * next year. Also do Sj, and dressage. :) I used to hunt her, but it sends her insane (and vertical a lot!).

I also have a 5 year old 15.2hh Irish Sports Horse called Spanner. She's my project, I went to Ireland to get her, and I plan to sell her next Spring. She'll hopefully be ready to do some Intros before she sells. She is the sweetest, a million times more sensible than Ballet. Quiet, but sensitive. She loves jumping, hates dressage (but is very talented!), her one down fall is she has 4 splints.

My first loan was a pony called Ginger who I learnt to ride on and care for basically. I thien worked at a riding school until I got my first Pony who is Toffee :D and she is still with me now. 9 Years next month

I then got 16.3hh ex racer who I had to PTS coz of kissing spines, then had my cob and a couple of projects and now have got Samba who is a forever on going project :D But she is staying.

Ummmmmmm...Sebastian, bay, 13h-ish, welsh-ish, we actually had 6 ponies that lived in the back garden, Mother was a bit of a kleptomaniac, used to belt around the village with a gang of friends when I was about 7, no saddle, no hat, snaffle bridle no noseband (probably didn't have one). My Mother used to ride him and lead another one (whichever she could catch) to the village school to collect us, my brother and I would double up and ride back home. Details are a bit vague as this was about 40 years ago. I do remember their names though, Sebastian, Godolphin, Apple Pie, Duster, Conkers and Sixpence

What do I have now?

Quarter horses and Paints of various ages, with a Morgan, and an Arabian thrown in for good measure, a mini, a Paint mix pony colt and a SB Paint mix filly. Tallest is 15.3h, smallest is 32"

I still keep the horses in the back garden.:D

First pony, was technically mums, but was a 14hh Chilean Criollo mare called Dona Nana (DN). Absolutely stunning to look at, one of the smartest horses I have ever met and totally nuts. She had 4 gears: jog, sideways canter, gallop and reverse. I learnt to stick on and steer at a gallop before I could trot. However she got me out of trouble just enough to balance the times she got me into it...

Now Beau, 16.3hh WBxTB, also mums (one day I will be able to afford my own!) who is a total sweetie so easy to handle and do anything with, with great jumping and DR ability when we both concentrate for long enough!

First pony I loaned was Smartie a 12hh welsh at a riding school now I have a 16.2hh Trakehner Gelding ex eventer

My first was a dun maniac called Puff. I was 10. (Long time ago now....) he must have been a native of some sort - he stood at 12hh and looked a bit like a thelwell cartoon. We hunted mainly. This was pre ban - in the 70's. Did a bit of PC in the summer, mainly gymkhanas, and rode in the field. He was mine for nearly 18 glorious months. Then I was sent to boarding school. Puff went out on loan and the first weekend fell on a stile out hunting, broke his leg and was shot where he lay. I still have the letter from Mum telling me what happened.

Now - post boarding school, several horses under my belt. I broke my back in a crashing fall about 6 years ago and had to sell my 18.1hh Shire Thouroghbred cross Ben. Now - thanks to a marvellous physio I can ride again - I can walk which is probably more important! But my only horse just now is my daughter's Cob X 13.2 piebald. Bought 3 years ago and now aged 13.

The only conditions I set down when we went out to get her first pony was no coloureds and nothing hogged. So what did I end up with....

Still he is our baby boy and will have a home for life with us. (I knew I'd never sell her first after what hapepned to Puff!)

My first pony was a 13hh grey mare :)
Horrible choice, she was flighty, spooky, hated the wind, not great to jump, a pig to tack up ( I can remember standing in tears trying to put a bridle on) and strong :p
Still, she taught me to stay on ;)
She then got something which meant she had heartbars put on, and then she escaped onto the road.
Soon after, she was sold to a riding school!

My horse at the moment is a 17h coloured 4 year old ;)
Big scopey rangy horse, all his height is in his legs (which are white... great...) but sweet and hopefully special :)

First loan pony was a young 13.2 Chestnut welsh pony, hot headed at times & very green so taught me a lot about my seat but did everything he could to keep me on top of him, he was a little superstar!

First owned pony was a 13.2 grey new forest whom i re-broke my self at the age of 13, as he hadn't been broken properly, he was 4 years old & a little rascal at times! But was one of those ponies you could never replace, we had the most amazing bond together & achieved so many memories. I trusted him with my life.

My pony now is a 17 month old jet black forester to make 14.2hh. Only had him three months & is already wise beyond his years! An old man trapped in a youngsters body! :p

My first pony was a beautiful little 11.2hh (I think) called Misty. My older brothers had ridden her when they were tots and then I came along and she was mine. :) She was a cracking little pony and we had so much fun - we went to pony club but I was not really so dedicated to showing or jumping (well, we did a bit of showing but only a tiny bit of jumping on lead rein). Our thing was the gymkhana which we were totally awesome at! We had all pink and purple gear, including a sweat rug which my Mum dyed bright pink and sewed my initials on in purple, and we went most weekends and had a great time.

Misty lived until she was over 30 and we were doing well at gymkhanas/shows into her late twenties but I outgrew her pretty quickly. She was the perfect little girl's pony and she looked in excellent condition until the day she died. :)

Now I have Belle, a 16.2hh KWPN x ISH (passported as an ISH herself). We just hack and have a lesson a week (sometimes 2 in the summer) and I love her to bits, though she has taken a lot of patience!

my first loan pony was an 11.2hh roan called Smokey. He could get out of anywhere, was a nightmare to catch and would jump anything! He suffered from awful separation anxiety but was a very very sweet pony

my horse now is a 6yro 15.2hh shire x gypsy cob x tb, he's a sweet horse but is very hard work and always keeps me on my toes. If you gain his trust he'll do anything for you, but he is hard to work with and not many have lasted long with him - but he's with me for life

i got my first pony at 5, she was an unhandled 3 year old welsh sec A called megan, steel grey absolutely gorgeous and i was the only one who could get near her, or so mum said, took six months to get her to fully trust us enough to be able to hack out off the lead rein etc and i had her untill i was seven.

Now i have a giant! 17hh Irish Draught gelding five year old, and still blooming growing should make about 17.3 :S called Taz he's dapple grey, and is lovely, has taught me alot as he is completely different from any of the ponies that i had growing up, have always had young horses, ive had taz since he was almost 3 has been an amazing few years :D

First pony was a 5yo when we bought him. He was perfect on leading rein - would jump everything, would do a sweet dressage test and would keep up with the "big boys" when riding and leading - would love galloping up hills!
Off leading rein he was a git - would often dump me and make his own way back to his stable! He was a challenge but I learnt so much from him.

Current horse we bought as a 4yo. She was terrible at flatwork, had a nice jump and was good to hack. She is now working really well on the flat and perfect to hack. The jumping is coming along and she is growing up so much, not just in mental age but she can grown from 16.1 to 16.3 and is a tall, leggy girl. She's perfect for me in that she has her quirks but is not nasty and would not put you in danger. Can't wait to BSJA'ing her and taking her BE and going hunting :D

My first pony was every teenagers dream: 14.1 dapple grey and with the hugest big brown eyes. He was a 5yo, I was 13, everyone said it'd be a disaster. It wasn't. He carried me safely and supremely comfortably coz he had a lovely stride, all the way through PC, then when I started work and had to keep him at livery he was the darling of the yard.

He'd stand stock still out hunting when everyone was galloping in all directions around him. We had to regularly hack out through a working quarry, where this big gantry thing came over the road and every so often would shimmy and shake (wouldn't be alowed now!) and at the same time a big piston thing would go around and steam would come out of it, and there'd be big lorries and Caterpillar machines all working very close up, and he'd just walk past calmly like he'd be out in the field. I can't remember how many times people offered me crazy prices for him, but my little darling was never for sale. Bless him.

Now: I've got a traddie cob, piebald 15.1. He's a sweetie too, I see a lot of my first pony's character in him as he's quite a laid back chappie, however he can be a bit quirky just when you're not expecting it! But is really just right for me at the mo.

:pMy first horse was a 3 year old 14.2 sec D called Ranger, he was an absolute dream to own for two years lol, would jump anything, pull up at anytime and look after me, I put him out for summer grazing and he turned into an evil beastie....once taking over 2 weeks to catch ( i ended up wedging him between 2 trees :P ) he had riggy manners, would try hump any mare he seen, buck me off, jump off stupidly high banking and generally be a sod! After four years of torture I sold him to a family friend who still has him. He hasnt changed, pain to catch and everytime he has gone on loan he comes back after a few weeks :) he is now nicknamed Boomerang :p If i had the ££££ I`d have him back in a second!

This is Ranger , please excuse the really high noseband, didnt know what i was thinking!

Now have Roxy a 16.3 CB, Ayla a 16 - 16.1 PBA and Beau a 2 yo Welsh x TB.....all are normally sane...great fun and the total opposite to my old horse...they all come to call :P

I still have and ride my first pony! He is the hairy bay cob in my sig, 14hh anxious, worrier, but still the most genuine and honest boy I have ever met! I could and have put completely novice kids on him and he has been a Saint. Loves hunting, loves gymkhana games, gets very jealous of me talking to other horses although he does accept Little Miss, always has to be the field boss man, puts himself to bed at night and is generally an absolute dream to own and do!

My first pony I got when I was 7. She was a 19yr old semi-wild ex broodmare off the newforest. Fab lead rein pony but awful riding pony ( had never been properly broken in), I fell off her ALOT. Taught me a good seat though ;)

I now have a 5yr old, 16hh TB. He's easier than my first pony lol! Saying that though the good seat my pony gave me does come in handy every now and again ;)

My first "pony" was a donkey! She was called Poppy and was lovely. I think she died when I was about 4. I then used to put her old felt saddle on a straw bale and ride my imaginary pony for hours. I think my parents worried for my sanity and so got me a lovely ride/drive shetland!
I now have a selection of horses/ponies but would love another donkey one day.

I first loaned Guinnea a 14.2hh Strawberry Roan Welsh Section D, she was safe as houses but wouldn't move easily at all! She would do bunny hop bucks if you dared to ask her to canter. I spent most my hacks on her miles behind my friends on speedy ponies. However I loved her to bits. Even is she wouldn't let me pick out her feet, and didn't like moving hehe. Oh and I remember her saddle wasn't the best fit, and I fell off leaning over to do a gate once, landed with both my feet still in my stirrups and she just stood there stuffing her face.

Now have Pickle a 17.1hh clydesdale x, he was my first horse of my own aged 15! He is safe, but a bit faster than Guinnea hehe I adore him! home for life with us.

My first pony was Cindy, she was a 12.2hh welsh pony.Later I got a PBA called Shuffles who was a daddy to Flicka, cinys daughter.Kept Ciny till died and Flicka went on permanant loan.

Now have Flash a coloured gypsy type cob.

My first pony is a 14.2hh chestnut arab x welsh mare! I still have her 10 years on! She was a little madam never thought I would of kept her! She turned out ok in the end apart from getting grumpy in her old age :).

First pony was called Topsy Tervy, a shetland, small, brown, hairy thing and spent most of it's time shaking me off or sticking it's head down to eat grass :D then I got another called Cherry, again small brown fat and hairy.

I used to fall out with my mum and get really mad because she never used to let me off the lead rope when I was first learning to ride by myself and when she did eventually, she kept grabing the reins at every opportunity! I wanted to prove I could control and ride BY MY SELF!!!!:D

Yeah...we didn't bother with things like grass reins in those day! :D

Anyway, plenty of other ponies and horses while growing up that have been and gone over the years, too many to mention but each one very well remembered.

Currently have a steel grey 5yr old 16.1 ID/WB/...what ever he's supposed to be, called Mackenzie, very well known for his character, loves to be centre of attention, never a dull moment when Macker in town, doesn't do a great deal compaired to some 5yr olds, gentle schooling, odd clinic, few dressage dressage debuts, main aim at the moment is to get him wise to the world and keep him fit, next I'm taking him hunting, won't tell you what my YO said but it involved me leaving him in his will :D

Other horse, not mine, little TB mare that I took in April, used to ride her years ago not long after her being out of training, again same sort of thing, hacking, jumping etc, would be XCing if other half got his finger out and bought me a dam box!:D

All very sedate at my neck of the woods :D

First pony was an 11.2hh 26 year old (I think) bay Dartmoor mare called Ginny.
I only ever took her to one show, which was my first, but we won :D I must've been doing something right even all them years ago.

I now have Kao (about an 11 pony gap between him and Ginny) a 14.2hh patchy thing :D

My first was a pony called Jester - grey 14.1 welsh x. Complete nutter but he taught me how to ride properly. Jumped everything and anything - hunted pre ban, xc, sj, working hunter showing - I sold him in the end as I started to knock the fences down with my feet!

Currently - 15.3 IDx mare - grey again - gorgeous girl that was pregnant when I found her in Horsemart (not advertised as up the duff) but I still bought her as I really liked her. She had a gorgeous foal who I have now sold and I actually got back on her last Saturday for the first time since March. VVV nappy and green but that will come - we are going to have loads of fun doing most of the stuff listed above...

I was deprived of a pony because of non horsey parents!

lol but my first horse was a 15.2hh CB x TB called harry who I had on loan for a year, super first horse although very leggy and very long!

Now have an irish cob and an idxtb :D

First pony - Tetcott Legend an 11.2hh Welsh Mountain Sec A. Very cute and very cheeky. We got him as a 4yr old when i was 4 and we learned together. He had only just been broken in when we got him and I was still on a lead reign but it seemed to work and I had him for 6 years!

Moved from him to a 14.2hh Connie - best move ever. He was fab and took me from doing 2'3-2'6 SJ/XC to Gosling and Calvert Cup, such a shame I wasnt as aware of BE back then!

Slightly smaller step then to 15.2 Hackney/Cob/TB - very fun horse and very cute. Carried on where the Connie left off but not much more progress.

Then came a string of rides I had on 16hh+ horses that werent much cop.

Now Bear and Mr T (16.1hh and 16.3) both 6, both TB ex racers and both AMAZING. Bear got injured but we are treating her and intend to breed from her as she has a fab personality and makes mincemeat of 1.20m+. Mr T is fast turning into a Dressage Diva! Only been reschooled 7months and already working at Elementary level. Is a bit of a shame Im an eventer rather than Dressage so may have to sell the handsome boy on the spring :-(

my first 'pony' was Patrick. He was 16h and i am smiling thinking of him. It was in the late 70s and i looked after four horses for a local farmer and in return i rode Patrick. He was a retired hunter . My parents werent horsey and tbh there was not much money to go round. I had the run of the farm for riding on and Patrick was never shod. When i decided to do the sponsored ride at school i saved up my dinner money for weeks to get him shod. He was a big irish hunter ... a stunning dapple in his younger days but snow white as he got older. He was absolutely totally bomb proof and i loved him with all my heart. like most horsey girls i grew up and away from horses but allways dreamt i would have my own. My dream came true when i bought the lovely chester last year. Chester is also a big irish hunter but there the similarities end. He has taken some settling but we generally arrive back home at the same time as each other now!

My first 'own' horse (as opposed to loaned or shared) was Lewi, a 14.3hh Black Welsh Sec D 4 yr old gelding. I re-broke him as he hadn't had the best of starts, I was 11 years old when I got him and everyone said it would be a disaster....however we went very well together. I could ride him past literally ANYTHING, he'd jump anything I pointed him at, was fab at gymkhanas and he was the sweetest little horse in the world. He grew to 15.1hh and I still have him now, he has a home for life with me :-) He's now on part loan to a friend's 2 daughters to generally have fun with and enjoy but I still spend a lot of time with him (he's stabled next door to my other horse so I couldn't possibly miss him) and ride him occasionally.

My other boy Max, a Lovely 18.1hh Bright Bay British Warmblood Gelding. He's 20 yrs old (got him when he was 19) with a fantastic BSJA record. He still competes BSJA with my best friend (I hate jumping now, however Max lives for it) and he competes at Dressage and Showing with me. He's bombproof in traffic but an absolute poof with anything that isn't even remotely scary! Such a darling to handle and very very loving. He's a dream to ride too....very quirky and certainly hard work but when he goes well he looks and feels amazing!
