Ok you asked for it lol.
My horse is a 16.1 just turned 7 chestnut TB gelding. Iv'e had him since he was 4.5yrs and he is an ex-racer.
He's an allrounder and I have trained him myself to do low level BD and BE, RC SJ (on the teams) plus lots of other bits and pieces too including showing, clinics ect. He does everything I ask of him and is very versatile.
He is super and I love him to bits! He can occassionally be a handful as he is a young TB and he is very bright and sometimes cheeky but he always looks after me.
He's given me tons of confidence as he has never refused a fence in his life and has taken me from being worried to pop a X-pole to flying over 1m XC fences without a care in the world. I can hack him alone, take him for a gallop, jump the hunt jumps out hacking, I can take him to shows on my own the works.
He is all I ever wanted really and gives me tons of fun i'm very lucky .
My lad is a 15 2 trotter x, in summer is rose gold tri colour, four white legs, I never tire of watching him. In winter he is a total yak, darkens down to a bay.
Loves living out, is an escape artist in the stable, or if the field is sectioned off, he can undo knots and bounces our gates to open them, a gorgeous character, ridden he can be a handful, having a fast walk and trot, when he trots properly he is so comfortable.
My OH thinks I prefer my lad to him, not quite true, but the horse is jealous of my OH.
I think you can guess I would'nt part with either for a lottery win
My mare is 16hh 11yo 'sports horse'. She is bay with a white star . I've had her for almost 8months and she mainly evented and jumped before I had her. I've worked on her flatwork for the past 8months and she moves so beautifully now and really carries herself correctly. Had our first dressage test in march and scored 60.something% on her first ever test, in an indoor school with mirrors(which was the first time seeing/being in too!). She is absolutely nuts, controlable but nuts. She's a dream once you get her working correctly I have my first sj comp next sunday with her hoping that she doesn't motorbike around
Mine is a 6 year old 15.1 bay gelding with 4 socks and a big wide blaze. I bought him when he was just turned 3 and have trained him, after a very rough time, to do low level dressage (moving up to novice this year hopefully), the odd show, a teeny cross pole which he leaps over willingly while I pee my pants and to hack out both alone and in company (he does jump around the 3ft mark with other people, just not with me!) We aren't a match made in heaven by any means, he's spooky and babyish and I'm nervous, but we pootle along at our own pace and I love him to pieces. He has a home for life with me
My Horse is 7 at the end of this month. Shes a TBXIDXWB skewbald. Shes very friendly and sweet, nannies any Horse! She hacks out alone and in company. Not strong or silly. But lovely and forward. She didn't have a great start to her ridden career. So I am re-schooling her. Shes still recovering from a stifle injury so we are taking things slow. Shes VERY impatient and demading but I love her!
He is the yellow pony! What more do you need to know?!?
Rising 8, 14.2, dun, connemara. When he is good he is bl**dy awesome and makes every thing feel possible. When he is a knobber he is a total utter knobber that you cant reason with. If he likes you then your fine but if not watch out he will use that brain against you . Can be a spooky idiot when the mood takes him but put him to work and he will settle, loves being a lead rein and first ridden pony and looks after children brilliantly. Jumping is much more our thing than flat work but the flat work is progressing. Get him on side and he will generally try to do most things for you but you cant use the because I said so response or you will get a major tantrum. I have taken him from never having been ridden away from home to being a rather nice little competition pony and this is only the beginning of his second season.
I loves him really and I'm super proud of him and what we have achieved together.
Not mine yet, 11yr old, Standardbred, gelding.
He's had a heck of a life and his personality shows this. He used to be a total sod, but you could see the anguish in his eyes and he was clearly depressed. He didn't like people or other horses, but he couldn't bare to part with the herd. He used to rear, kick out and be generally dangerous.
When he settled a bit, he was the perfect ride, so long as he was following another. You could put a total novice on him and so long as you didn't ask him to do anything and just let him follow the lead of another.
He had a terrible accident in the trailer, whilst being brought to the sales, which resulted in all the skin being scraped off his back. He was a state. Thank goodness his current owner bought him, or he wouldn't be here.
At first I didn't like riding him, being a pacer, he moved funny and was just an all together weird horse to be around. No one else (apart from a young lad, who had fallen in love from day 1) would really get on him and his owner needed another rider and I fit the bill.
After a little while, I got used to him and started to ask to ride him, rather than being told.
I don't know exactly when we clicked, but we did and I'm so glad
We have loads of fun and that scabby little nobody that came to the yard, is now healthy, full of life and getting on so well. Neither me or his owner can quite believe it
A 14.2 connie x tb, currently flea bitten grey at 23. Used to have moments just like Dafthosses pony in her younger days, has done lower level affiliated in all 3 & been a fab competition pony. Does well working hunter too but never pursued it as I prefer jumping, as does she. Can be handled by tiny tots & great on the lr too. Since she was about 9 she's always been the one every kid & teen loves & has frequently been used for practicing bandaging, loading etc. Loved her hunting & could stay up front jumping everything, but the day after could give a nervous child a confidence boost, will take any child who can give her a rough idea of where the next jump is & hold a neckstrap round a course. Utterly bombproof, total schoolmistress who looks after kids. Tends not to take to adults quickly though, fine to handle but doesn't respond well ridden. And dumps them if they have aids she dislikes. Last week my 7 yr old was jumping her round a small course, accidently turned her into a 3' spread I'd been doing, pony jumped it from one stride at an angle, daughter ends up sat on neck on landing, pony freezes & holds head & neck up fixed till daughter back in saddle, with no rein contact or help from me, which is a pretty accurate representation of her attitude.
Also a great nanny for youngsters & a real alpha mare. Self confident & arrogant but completely & utterly perfect.
A 32 year old chestnut, arab x ?, probably welsh, mare. I've had her 20 years. Flame is hard to explain. She has incredible charisma and while I've always thought she was amazing I used to think it was because she was my horse and gorgeous, but its more than that, she's on another level of complexity and spirit to regular horses. I'm very lucky to have Flame, she's taught me so much and i'll be heartbroken when her time's up.
I've also got an almost 6 year old chestnut arab gelding who is supposed to be my riding horse but who is off on the sick after he went and grew a tumor in his hoof and had to have it removed. He is lovely, kind, cheeky, funny, a bit daft and 100% genuine. The total opposite of Flame, he is very transparent and easy. I'm so excited for when I'm allowed to ride him again, I'm starting to tentatively believe that the vets might just have fixed his bad foot.
Mines a 16.2 friesIan gelding. He's 10 and I've had him 2 weeks. Were spending the summer hacking with friends with a bit of schooling which im pants at
He's a 14hh 13yrs Irish cob (I think!) He's lemon & white - or a palomino tobiano as I found out on here last week!! I bought him for my daughter 4yrs ago this week to do a bit of low level bsja & pc.
He has far exceeded what we bought him for & my daughter has had so much fun on him & been all over the country, qualifying for loads of stuff he even got her into dressage & eventing & has given her the confidence to have a go at anything.
Sadly she's 16 now so he has to go so she can move onto horses. we're both gutted
My boy is a 15.1 piebald Irish cob, 13 years old and I've had him for 12 of those. He's amazing, everyone loves him, lots of fun for experienced riders but also totally safe and controllable for a sensible novice. He'll turn his hoof to anything I ask. Sadly was recently diagnosed with navicular, collateral ligament damage and pedal osteitis so is currently on rehab at Rockley. Home soon
My girl is a rising 5 year old IDxWB chestnut mare who currently stands at around 15.3 but I think will still grow some more. She's quirky moody and temperamental but if she likes you she'll try her heart out for you. I've had her four years and she's being brought on very slowly, hopefully going to start jumping this summer and maybe trying a few dressage tests if we're lucky.
They're both total opposites but I adore them anyway! x
I own three of the best ponies in the world. I've had Jasper for 12 years, and he's given me the most amazing times of my life during that time. He's gone from being the riding school reprobate, kicked out for putting too many clients off, to being the most sought after horse on my yard (when I was on one ) for nannying other horses or less than confident riders. I've spent my life doing the stupidest things I could dream up, just to prove we could, jumping the most ridiculous things I could find, hacking out exploring and trespassing and generally behaving like juvenile delinquents. In between those times, he's done more than his share of pony rides at the village fetes, dodging bouncy castles, archery and crockery smashing stalls. He's nannied small children round showing classes or courses of jumps, in between giving me the ride of my life, show jumping, xc or anything we set our minds to.
Fergles is turning into the only horse in the world who could "replace" him as my main ride as J moves into partial retirement. Fergs is the sweetest, most honest, charming pony I've ever ridden. He's not perfect - he's young, can be sharp and green and needs time to think about questions you ask him - but he really is practically perfect in every way. He always finds the answer, if you give him time to work it out. He's just turned six, and I have the highest aspirations from him. He's all my own work, but even with all my imperfections and failures, he still shows more potential that I ever deserved in a horse. And I can trust him to look after novice friends...
Darach's the most confident, most refreshing youngster to work with - he's cheeky and bold as brass, but a total softie, with the most amazing uphill paces (I honestly don't believe he's truly a highland!) and scope to burn over fences, even if he does like to prove that by jumping over my fencing.
I honestly couldn't have a better herd. And I am extremely biased, but I couldn't care less. They are perfection in my eyes and always will be.
14.1 registered Welsh D gelding, just turned 6 years old. Bought him a year ago next month without viewing him, totally un schooled and green. He was impossible to handle, had numerous near encounters with his back end as did many other people. Spent pretty much every day since then training him on the ground and riding him. Total live-wire but wouldn't have him any other way, for the most part he is now a well mannered little horse and a pleasure to own
Ebony is a Black 15 3 IDXTB who is 18, I have had her for 11 years the first three were great then she broke her leg and two days later I lost my leg she has had to adjust to me being a disabled rider and owner, and now takes care of me, and this is not just when I am riding, she really seems to know that something is not quite right with me I feel very lucky to have her in my life
