......I've just put Jasper in a spare stable.

Vet is coming later, to see him, I should point out.

He seemed to be getting better yesterday but Hannah went and put him some Baker's Complete in his bowl last night because he kept sitting by it! I didn't know as I was outside with the horses so couldn't stop him eating it.

I've cleaned watery (stinky) poop off the carpets five times overnight and am shattered. The house stinks too. This morning he was asleep on our bed and I called him down to take him out for a walk (only 1 1/2 hours after he'd been out). He trundled down the stairs and just stooped twice and did more.

Decided then I'd have to put him in the stable as there is no warning and with five kids in the house, it's unhygienic. He doesn't look to have lost weight, is as perfectly happy and waggy as normal and has a ravenous appetite but has now stopped eating the rice and will only pick the boiled chicken out of it.

Will let you know what the vet says later.

Thanks everyone.

Vet has been and instantly declared him far too fit, bright and happy (he jumped all over him wagging his tail) to be seriously ill.

He's recommended keeping him in the stable so as to ensure he is properly starved for 24 hours. You know what kids are like, they often feed the dog tit-bits to avoid eating all of their tea themselves! 5ml of Kaolin every four hours as well.

Back on to chicken and rice tomorrow and see how he goes. He says he must've eaten something he shouldn't have, especially as there is no vomiting.

Hope he's going to be ok. He's never had an upset tummy before and I don't like seeing (or smelling) him like this.

Oh thats a good outcome, at least he isn't seriously ill! Good old 24hr starvation, its the only thing you can really do to clear their system. Hope he gets better!

Our 8 month old border had the same thing recently (totally understand the shattered part) and our kitchen looked like the somme

He was fine after a couple of days on rice and we traced it back to eating horse poo

It would only be cruel if the dog was never ever used to being in the stable and regarded it as isolation punishment! Now if you dog frequently chills out in the stable then no.....not cruel in the slightest! Our dog would have given anything to live outside....we would have had to live with him but he was always too hot inside! Even in the winter the back door was always open and the heating off!!! Dogs tend to love being outside as they can smell the wind!
Hope he gets well soon...probably just a touch of Colitis!
