I'm really worrying about potential new horse's vetting on thursday - I absaloutly love her to bits so really want her to pass. Can't get rid of that 'what if she dosen't' feeling

Can anyone tell me honestly what the chances are of a horse passing a 5* vetting?
I think Thursday will take a long time coming..

Well has the horse given you any reason to doubt she'll pass? If she's had health problems in the past then obviously stuff like that increases the chances of a fail.

But actually, I dont believe a horse is to "pass" or "fail" a vetting. The vet is only meant to present to you any problems he finds and you need to work out if the problem is acceptable to you or not. So even if he "failed", it may not be something you're worried about, depending on what it is!

Thanks, thats put my head a bit straight I think. And no, she really has not given me anything to doubt..
Thanks again

STOP BEING SILLY!

Seriously, I'm sure it will be fine, but I do know how you feel. Had one fail the vetting back last July and as we had had him a week's trial and got to know him, it was devastating frankly. This one failed the flexion test - still lame 16 strides later on 1 hind leg - and my vet was very helpful in explaining it all. Her "pass" rate was between 4 and 6 strides depending on the proposed use of the animal, so I was able to see that it was something I should take seriously. Having said that, I would still have bought him if I could have got him for £1200 rather than the £2400 the seller wanted. I know that the seller had bought him for £1200 a few months earlier, but she was adamant on her price and wouldn't budge at all. I still wonder what happened to him - I hope he's happy wherever he is....

i was worried about my mare passing, but she did with flying colours, but saying that i only had a 2-stage done as she was unbroken.
if you didnt spot anything wrong, then the chances are there wont be. stop being silly, and have fun with her when you get her!
