Dog gleefully wades through every muddy puddle several times, but refuses to put his paw in a shallow bowl of clean water when we get home ?

Ha ha the little white greyhound is just the same - she will drink from any stagnant horrible dirty puddle on a walk, but refuses nice clean water when she gets the chance :D

fake whippet no. 2 loves to swim, well paddle really, she wont go too far from land. But she still loves to be in the water

Fake whippet no.1 REALLY loves to swim and happily retrieves out of water. He got so excited last time we went to the river he literally couldnt control himself and was just spinning with joy!

NEITHER of them wants to go for a walk if its so much as drizzling, and fake whippet no.2 if made to go, will shake and spasm and then lay down on the floor and play dead! We enter into a massive battle of wills when it rains as he will NOT go out for a wee and will instead happily wee in the house instead. We are not quite so happy with this arrangement. He is little git!

And so help me god if either needs to be washed off! Its like they are being murdered!

Somewhere far out towards Norway, there is a springer spaniel who had to be screamed at to come back. This is the dog who can't be kept out of any water whilst on walks. This same spaniel growled and shook when he had one foot dunked in a bucket cos he'd stood in his own s h i t earlier this week.

FC, that is quite possibly a frankly mental whippet on the left.

Can I join the club? Owner of spaniel who jumps off banks into rivers if your not looking, chases waves in the sea ... But terrified of calm water loch that I was swimming in and paddling pool :p

He was  Hes a lovely boy and adores kids. He'd gone out to check the kid in the background was ok, then decided salt water wasnt for him, so he came back at high speed before a wave washed over him and got his ears wet again

He went viral after I posted this pic of him on a whippet Facebook group:

Apparently its not normal for whippets to walk on water

I still remember my first whippet chasing a moorhen on the river - now bear in mind I was 17 when I got her and I am 46 now :o - she took off after the moorhen, she didn't realise there was a hole in the river bed, and completely disappeared under water :D :D :D Funniest thing I have ever seen.... (NB: Isobel the whippet was Absolutely Fine, although clearly not designed for swimming :D)

Levreier, it must be a whippet thing, falling in holes in rivers. My old boy bolted across one at a beach and sunk. Came out spluttering and coughing while I had heart failure thinking he was drowned. He was fine.

Twenty minutes later, he gallops a circle, crosses the river in the same place because a 2 mile beach isn't long enough, and sinks again.

He wasn't the brightest, that one!

An excellent pic! Is that a human, left behind? :)

We have some amazing pics of the now departed May, FLYING through a flood water, and loving it! If only I knew how to post pics! Yours will have to do. :)

Alec.
