What would you do?
not my horse but vet came took bloods and went again then owners turned him back out while visibly trembling and went home.
I always thought box rest and hose down legs every few hours for a Fever? If he was mine id have taken him to pool house by now. I always thought a temp of 42 was life threatening?

Having been on temperature watch with my little boy for the last week, I was told anything over 38.5 was out of the normal range and there can be a 1.0 degree exception if there’s warm weather but anything higher than 40 was an absolute emergency as indicated a fever.

I hope to goodness the horse is seen again asap as 42 I would imagine is life threatening.

Is your yo aware? I would be letting them know of the situation, I certainly wouldn't just chuck a trembling horse out in the field with such a high temperature, are the people idiots or do they just not give a shit

both I think. Yes he knows, he’s offered stable and they said no, so he said to put him in the rehab field with small turnout and a shelter which they are yet to do. ?

That's terrible I think I would have to say something to the owners, what has there vet said about it? Are they coming back to do further tests?

I’ve just messaged the owners bloods come back with bacterial infection and low white blood cells. I said if your not getting him in at least turn the water off to the field so they can see how much he’s drank. But Nope they haven’t. ?

Might be too late then surely a vet carries basic antibiotics or I would have gone and got them tonight I can't believe a vet has just left the horse like that. A vet would normally inject the first dose to speed things up anyway sounds like a rubbish vet
