Also in Careers but just want as much info as possible!

I'm currently looking at doing some equestrian work abroad. I've found a couple of fab ads on Yard & Groom but wonder where else to look.
Also, where abouts would be good to visit? I can't do anywhere out of Europe until next summer (hoping to go to America then) just because it would take too long now to get a visa sorted and go to London for the interview.
What could I expect? What do i need to remember going abroad to work with horses? How long would you go for? I have 3-4 months available. Did you expect payment or were you happy with food/accommodation/lots of riding?

Any stories/suggestions/ideas welcome

Depending on the sort of work you want to do, you could always try contacting riding holiday agencies to ask if any of their destinations need staff. I work for a company like this and we do get people asking from time to time and have been able to pass contact details onto them. :)

A couple of years ago I wanted to find some work for 6 weeks in France with animals/horses. I stumbled upon help exchange (I think it's helpx.net). The work there is generally work for food and accommodation, but there may be some that offer pocket money. I spend time at 2 places - one at a general animal farm, the other at a stud farm. The animal place was not particularly successful, but I had a brilliant time at the stud farm and have remained friends with the owner (I've been over since, and am going again to pat babies in a couple of months!).
The work on help x is not exclusively horses, so you do have to search a bit, however I got lots of offers of work when I put up a little notice there. All in all, I would recommend it, unless you need a wage when its probably not for you.
