Tendon Boots Overheating

My friend turns her horse out all day with tendon boots front and rear. I have read that wearing boots causes the tendons to overheat and softens the tissue not actually protecting the legs but making them more vulnerable to injury. Now some boots are designed to have ventilation to keep the legs cool. Where have I read this or am I imagining it, can anyone help?

On the hot days recently, only last week ,the horse was sweating under the boots. The idea is stop the horse hurting itself but I am concerned leaving these boots on for long periods is causing more damage than it is preventing. I will suggest the turnout chaps. Thanks

My horses have skin and fur to protect themselves.

How does that work against, for intance, shod feet?
I can see WHY people would turn out with boots, but I'm sure some are available that won't make horse sweat.

The thing about tendon boots causing legs to overheat only really applies when horses gallop in them for long periods, ie. cross country in the summer. A horse turned out in the field won't move that much so won't create much heat in it's legs so there is no reason they should get too hot under the boots.

only horses with a severe prob should be turned out with boots, i think some people tend to mollycoddle horses turning out suited and booted all the time its just lazyness not wanting their horses to get dirty, im all for rugs to keep thin skinned horses warm but i know of a Highland pony who is t/out in a high neck heavyweight rug and brushing boots on all fours!!!!! now where is the need for that, sorry to go on but i gets my goat!!
