I have a 6 year old TB who about a week ago went lame whilst being ridden. We stopped work straight away, couldn't see anything on his legs so presumed he had knocked himself(he's a bit of a baby and not very brave!!!) so stabled him over night as usual and he then trotted up the next morning sound so we turned him out again as usual. The next day I have gone to lunge him and again he has pulled up lame on one rein. Again nothing to see on his legs but have kept him in as obviuosly something not quite right. When I have come up to sort his stable out he was very uncomfortable on the leg and the leg had started to swell across the cannon bone - called the vet who advised me to come in for x rays as she thought that there could be a fracture. X rays have come back clear but now there are two small bumps as the back of the fetlock and the swelling across the front of the cannon bone comes back as soon as I remove the support bandages. He is back in the verts next week for a tendon scan as she believes that there is some degree of tendon damage but she is at a loss to explain the cannon bone swelling as she said it is typical of a fracture in that region but nothing to be seen on the x rays. Just wondered if anyone else had any similar expierences??
