Just got my 4yo in to ride and he has slight filling around the superficial flexor tendon area and it feels warm. He is sound in walk and trot.

He was being an idiot in the field yesterday so could have kicked himself (the filling is more pronounced on the inside)

Obviously i havent ridden and have cold hosed it. Will do this again later. Any more suggestions?

Someone please tell me this is just a bruise and will be fine in a couple of days, have had so much heartache from other horse over past few years and i am so excited about this lad.....then again i've always had a feeling he was too good to be true!!!

Hello, if he is not lame then I would cold hose today, reassess tomorrow and, if you are concerned call the vet for a chat and ask their advice. If he was being an idiot he might have just kicked himself or tweaked something but best to keep a close eye...

i would definetley call the vet even if he has just bruised it my horse did exacly the same thing but i cant remeber whether it was the superficial or the check ligerment in her front leg / tendon was off work for atleast 2months then had to be slowly brought back into work again she just fell over in the field and strained it it was all swollen and heat we left it for about 2 weeks and hoped it would get better but it didnt so then called the vet but she was lame for the first couple of days so it may be different she had about 3 scans so definetly call the vet to have it checked out hope that helps
