Hi, I am currently composing some research for my Extended Project, which I am completing alongside my A levels, where I am looking at different treatments for Tendon Injuries in horses. It would be really useful to me if anyone could help me, by answering the following questions, or just telling me which treatment(s) you have found most effective:

1. In your opinion what is the most effective treatment for injuries to the Digital Flexor Tendons?

2. In your experience, do horses who suffer from injuries to the Digital Flexor Tendon return to full work, equal to the work they performed before the injury?

Thank you very much, any information I can get will be very useful!

Amy :)

my horse did his deep digital flexor tendon in his off fore.
it was diagnosed with a nerve block following x rays. no mri for us.
He had surgery on it and I can say it went from a horse on 3 legs before to 4 straight after.
it was then some 5 months of box rest and strict controlled exercise in hand then under saddle.
he had a poor prognosis and we never knew whether he would be sound enough to hack.
3 yrs on and he has stayed sound and is in full work. including hunting. I have stopped jumping him to newcomers level as I don't want to risk it. all I can say is that surgery was able to clean up the tear and enabled him to have a job down the line.
