Tendon or ligament problems

My pony tore her suspensory ligament in one of her hind legs and damanged her digital as well ( i think) about two years ago now and she was on box rest for a year. She fully recovered and could be worked but now she has injured her tendon in one of her front legs. She's only 12 but could she have a weakness in her ligaments/tendons or is it just bad luck or quite a common complaint? Her conformation is good and her feet are in good condition and her shoeing is fine.
 
Tendon injuries, if not conformationally related, are just plain bad luck and fairly common, in my experience. A mechanical injury in one tendon will not cause all the tendons to be weakened.
Having said that, there is a user on here who has a mare with "naturally weak tendons" or something, very interesting but I believe the vet said it was something he'd never seen before. So it could be possible for the tendons to be "naturally weak", but it would be very unlikely indeed.
 
I think my pony is probably just accident prone and thankfully this time the ligaments are not torn so hopefully will heal faster
 
My horse did his curb ligament the first year and then went on to do a minor tear in his tendon .He has recovered from these injuries because of the proper rest period and rehab he had.The vet did suggest keeping him on newmarket joint supplement for maintenance and preventive measures.Might be something you would like to consider.

Just wondering whether the fact that your horse has an old tendon/ligament injury has changed her way of going, so that she has put a bit more pressure on the other tendons, causing your recent injury.

Just a thought!!
 
My pony did all 4 annular ligaments one after the other, she has some disorder with a long name which means her body breaks down its own collagen, causing her to be prone to these sort of problems.
 
The strange thing was my pony hasn't been ridden in a while because she was ill for a while so it really is confusing, but these things happen
