As title also was the horse sedated for this, I expected to not sedate, unless it was not cooperating but have just had a quote of £250 to do both legs including £30 of sedative, that is with us going to the surgery so no call out.

This is using a new vets practice with slightly eyewatering charges in general.

It' roughly £75 for the scan - im guessing your vets are doing that per leg - call out at £40 and sedation at £25 if needed. So we generally pay about £150-ish for a leg scan.

Do yours usually need sedation, this is a horse out of training who is totally chilled having been out since Dec and I expect to stand like a pro, yet they seem to want to sedate regardless, which will also mean a wait before bringing him home.

I'm pretty sure my vets are around £150 for a scan, they have a mobile unit so that wouln't include call out and sedation (if necessary). My vets are happy to attempt scanning minus sedation.

Our mare was sedated - mobile scanning unit and with visit and sedation and scan the bill was around £250. They wouldn't risk scanning without sedation as the machine is so expensive. Theyhave to do a very close clip/shave and whilst our mare is used to being clipped this was just extra time they have to stand still and be prepared for the scan.
