Hi guys, i'm more of a lurker than a poster but could really use some help
My horse has a 2 inch split in his extensor carpi radialis tendon (from his shoulder to his knee) and he's ruptured the tendon sheath, we're just back from 2 weeks in liphook, and are back in another 3 to reassess him but we've been discussing surgery, and his surgeon has said that if the tendon sheath doesnt sort itself out soon and keeps causing trouble (the fluid isn't being contained anywhere so despite draining it regularly it just fills straight up again and is huge!) then what he'd do is operate to remove the tendon sheath?! He assured me that while its quite a big thing to do, it has a high success rate and he'd come sound again after lots of physio to train the tendon to work with out a tendon sheath, but i cant get my head around it, and am finding very little info on the internet and just wondered if any of you have any experiences with this?!

I'm hoping it wont come to it but you never know...
thanks
x
