just had a quick look and to my eyes there just offering a service (eg full livery) to help your horse recover from injury. Nothing new, just general care of injuried horse (but very expense ones eg race horse).
All stuff which can be done at home under instruction from your vets. There nothing magical about tendon recover apart from, time and a strict recover programme which involves lots of control exercise and thats the key

Hi There

There are lots of different views on treatment of tendons/ligaments etc. Box rest, walking etc etc. My horse injured his SDFT in his off side hind, he has a lesion on the point of his hock! He did this at the beginning of April, and after 3 months box rest, I was offered Stem Cell Treatment - where they inject stem cells into the lesion to encourage new growth of tendon tissue. What injury has your horse sustained? what treatment/prognosis have the vets given you? has it been secanned? Mx

I got the impression that it was electrical therapy also but only because there is a tiny bit in the 'science' section that says:

Our reaserch has demonstrated that cellular communication can be influenced by the application of a very small, cell specific, sequenced electric current, reffered to as micro-current gap junction therapy. This application of a very small, cell functions such as proliferation and functional differentiation. Therefore, poorly functioning cellular communication systems caused as a result of illness and injury can be corrected and return to a normal state of behavior.

I do agree with you though Kick_On when you read the treatment section it seems like expensive box rest. I put a post about this on the New Lounge as it baffles me a little as to what they are actually doing and apparently the treatment is top secret!

I have had all the Tendonworks paperwork sent to me and I am still none the wiser. TBH I think they live in the hope that halfwits get them confused with stem cell treatment. have certainly seen threads on numerous sites about stem cell, with posters replying and pointing them to the Tndonworks site.

Amberfire - if you say your horse has tendon injury i assume your under vets instructions and they will be the best people to advise you on the recovery of your horse. Cos each case does need careful management
And if you horse needs different treatment ie stem cell technology, I would think your vets should be advising you and you should be in regular contact with vets, ie having scans regularly, steriod injection, regular check-up etc .... And if your vets aren't up this type of treatment i'm sure that they would refur you to a regional centre, would deal with these types of injuries - Newmarket springs to mind. But these types of centres are across the country

As i've stated reading website i can't see anything new?????, it looks like it mainly for racehorse and is like a recovery centre - but with racehorse price tag, which is fine and great if your purse is that deep.

and i do restate the best things for tendon injuries are 'time and controlled exercise'

Vicijp - i total agree with you

Actually they do claim to be doing research if you look in the science and future sections, so whilst offering a recooperation service they are also propogating "science". Their magic powder looks interesting

Tendon Works regenerating powder:

Tendon Works use their own drug - test safe, amino acid / enzyme based anabolic supplement to promote an accelerated rate of collagen production in tendon cells; this enables tissue to rapidly regenerate after it has been subjected to stress, strain and micro - damage.

This powder is an important adjunct for older horses (over three years) that are more vulnerable than their younger counterparts. Studies have shown that cellular activity is significantly reduced as the horse ages. This is particularly noticeable in the ultra - vulnerable superficial digital flexor tendon, which leads to an ccumulation of micro - damage and ultimately breakdown.

Whilst in our care, all of our 'patients' recieve this product, it is both safe and complies with racing health and safety standards. Whilst being exceptionally effective currently the power is extreemy costly and we are currently looking at ways to reduce this in order to supply it to the open market.

They have no creditable publications and I think they are hoping that people will pay vast amounts of money for a miracle cure. Which is actually just witch doctor type potions and mumbo jumbo coupled with sensible rest and exercise regimes. Personally I wouldn't spend my money there, I would get your horse on box rest at home with an exercise programme put together by a vet, and take yourself off on holiday! It will be cheaper and much more satisfying!

My horse is under the vets supervision which has been excellent I was just looking at all the options available to me. Luckily vet has been back and the tendon injury is very minor, my horse is retired anyway but just wanted the best for him.
