Permissible to have some heat in them or should they be stone cold?

Mare in question has some mileage on her legs.

Her tendons felt a little warm last night but she was fine to ride. She is a very genuine animal so I don't want to mess her up. It was warm yesterday so she was warm all over.

She is field kept at the minute and unfortunately has a grass belly which I hope to eradicate.

When it is hot outside, it is perfectly fine for legs to be warm. So long as they match the rest of her body if that makes sense. I would worry if you hosed them with cold water and immediately afterwards you could still feel heat coming through.

ETS. stone cold legs when the rest of the body is warm can indicate a circulation problem.
