Went to get Kizzy in from the field tonight, she took a couple of steps in trot & I could see she was lame, she walked in not too bad, she had slight heat & swelling above the fetlock, both sides, she reacted to palpitation & was more lame when I walked her forward. Called the vet, she immediately thought it was an abcess as she was now really lame, having stood in the stable for an hour. Put the foot testers on, but sadly no reaction. She palpitated the tendons & the swelling, & diagnosed a tenosinivitis, she can't tell at this stage if the tendons are involved, has told me to ice for 15 mins 3 times daily, & has given her some antiimflammatories, there is also a small ridge halfway up the back of the tendon, she thinks she has twisted her fetlock. Have to call her in 2 days & see if the swelling has gone down & to arrange a scan. I know it will be a long job if she has damaged a tendon, but could this be a sprain, any thoughts greatfully received. Thanks.

I would go with your vet's advice, most likely they will scan to see what has occured........my old mare did sprain her front right.and I knew there was something wrong as stood hunched up in the field, took 20 minutes to move her,and three months box rest

Will keep my fingers crossed for you!

No horsey advice but I had tenowhatsit (too lazy to spell it) - wonde if its the same thing? Mine was repetitive strain injury that caused my carpal tunnels to swell and irritate my tendons. Rest sorted it.
