So… I tend to use it as a first line of defence for cuts and nicks. I have an aerosol can.
Is it ok to use as a cure all? I hibiscrub the wound, let it dry, spray it and leave it be.
Sometimes I have blue hands and patchy blue legged dogs!

A human nurse said it inhibits wound healing. Something to do with sealing off the fresh edges I think. But surely a million sheep farmers can’t be wrong?
I suppose sheep skin is very thin, so perhaps more fragile than dog skin. It's not tereamycin, I don't think, but we have a tube of 'Dr Karen's ointment' an antibiotic which came from USA that is used rather like your blue spray. I would be more concerned about the Hibiscrub tbh. I think that can do more harm than good, I prefer salt water to clean wounds.

As a shepherd i am not worried about scarring or lumpy areas around a wound as long as the sheep is fine and productive what it looks like doesnt matter, i am more concerned with stopping an infection that may attract flies developing. I also am not always able to check a sheeps wounds as they heal, as they would go back out with the rest of the flock and if they are on the hill they free roam 16500 acres.
I rarley use it on the dogs but we dont often have a reason to.
I probably would but scarring doesnt worry me on the dogs either.
I dont use hibi though i always use salt water, i have seen what hibi can do to the skin and its not good.

Thank you both. I tend to sloosh their legs and bellies with weak hibiscrub after every shoot day, I am deeply paranoid about Alabama rot and we are usually in wet woods.
I note what you say about salt water and if I am repeatedly cleaning I do use that, but always assumed hibiscrub is ok as a one off. Perhaps I should reconsider.
I don’t mind if the dogs are scarred (poor things, but that ship has sailed).

Oxytet isn't an antibiotic I would use for prophylaxis by choice. Most superficial wounds just need a clean and something like manuka honey or wound gel applied if really needed.

Leukillin (not sure I’ve spelt that right) would be safer and probably more effective. It’s (blue spray) designed to do a totally different job in a different species in different conditions.

Dilute hibi is absolutely fine as a precautionary wash after shooting days and for cleaning grazes and abrasions as a one off but for anything deep it’s ok for cleaning around but lots of (as in multiple litres) saline / cooled boiled water followed by leucillin or similar is safer for actual wounds. (It won’t stain you, the kennel or any furniture either!)

CBA editing it again but the silly, stupid amounts of saline would only be for initial cleaning of a fresh wound to get as much crap out of it as poss.

Was my go to when I stood on a bloody rusty nail that shot through the sole of my boot....it was terramycin spray or a 10 hour wait at A&E terramycin was the no brainer!! healed up a treat.

When my sister came off her bike and got a horrible gravel rash that went pussy the stuff from the doctor did nothing for it but a couple of sprays of terramycin fettled it in no time.
