only heard today.. and felt sure he would be ok, as HHO is so quick on the news, i'm sure i would have heard something about it sooner had the outcome been worse..
Are you sure it was rotational? The fence he fell at was a palisade-y thing with brush on the top - so imagine a half rolltop on the bottom covered in fir, then another log-type bit on top with brush on that, all PN height - I cannot envisage how he possibly had a rotational fall at it (though I'm not saying he didn't!).
Very similar to this - in fact probably the same fence with fir on the bottom half actually, so maybe not a half roltop type thing after all!
The XC fence judge co-ordinator said to me that it was a rotational fall - TB was about 3rd last to go XC on the Saturday? I was told it was a crashing fall, really nasty, but that TB was walking about at Mount Ballan on Sunday so thankfully seemed to be OK
I just heard over the tannoy that he'd fallen at fence 4, which was that one. Thought it was odd at the time as it was a pretty straightforward fence and the ground was good etc. Maybe the commentary team got the wrong fence relayed to them, or maybe something totally bizarre happened! Anyway, thought nothing more of it and there certainly wasn't much circulating at the event about it on Sat and I was one of the last to leave as I went pretty late in the day XC too. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for him, poor chap.
As i said above, i don't really know anything about it.. just someone said he'd had one, but didn't know any more.. and i thought HHO would be the best place to find out (as it has proved to be)..
Anyway, glad to hear he's alright, and hope he gets well soon from whatever he has done!
I think some people call any nasty fall in which the horse hits the deck a rotational fall. Sometimes, in the shock of watching it, you can end up with a false memory of what happened... it can be a genuine mistake, not sensationalising at all.
Hope he and the horse are okay.
