My vet has twice suggested using any old brand of cheap natural yoghurt mixed in their feeds to settle a loose gut on two dustbin horses.

Nether horse would touch it, so I have no idea if it works :D.
You have to syringe it in, and in theory it might....but using a prebiotic is better, I'd say.

Not always, C. I have been advised to give live yoghurt after oral antibiotics and the two horses I've done it with wolfed it down in feed.

I can understand giving yoghurt or prebiotic after oral ABs but why on earth would you give it for ulcers? Just treat the ulcers, surely?
