How does the vet do this? I would like to check my puppies (9 month old stafford x) sight. She will bark at me coming in from the garden yet as soon as I get closer stops and starts wagging her tail and saying hello. She is a defensive dog and timid as had a rotten start. Her standard mode of operation is to act like chief guard dog and then run and hide behind me or one of the other dogs.

One of the things my vet did when my old GSD had eyesight problems was to drop a piece of cotton wool in front of her. It falls silently so the dog doesn't get any sound clues, if they don't follow it as it drops it suggests a problem with the eyes.
