Hello all,

If anyone else has seen my forum about buying a missold horse - the plot thickens.

I wonder if anyone knows how I would got about getting feed tested for being laced with drugs (bute, danilon?)

Thanks

I don’t see how it is possible to lace a bag of feed. The amount needed in the bag to allow for a sufficient dose fed would be huge. Was the feed bag sealed?

It can be done, speak to your vet, but unfortunately I doubt you could use it as evidence

Maybe this is a stupid question but how would it stand up in court if it returned as positive? Surely the seller could claim that you had ‘laced’ it? I just don’t want you to waste your money if it isn’t going to add anything to your argument.

For instance if I have a horse vetted that isn’t in my care then I get bloods taken for storage, BUT if it is a horse I have had on loan/trial then I don’t bother as again it could be argued the horse ate something contaminated or was admistered drugs in my possession and not theirs.
