Seen a similar post on here recently re someone thinking of breeding from a mare .

Just wondering what tests need to be done ?
and how they are done , must it be by a vet ? or can you get a diy mail order type test ???

Just wondering .

Thanks

Need clitoral swabs as a minimum - they have to be done by a vet as they need to be sent to the lab to be cultured.

Some studs will also insist on an EVA test but others won't. Again, has to be done by vet.

As a rough guide my last set of swabs inc visit were £75.

We ask for EVA and strangles test before the mare arrives and then we test for CEM when the mare arrives as it is included in our vet package
