Tetanus vaccination

Hi guys can anyone help me understand the tet vac how it works
I had assumed was like humans and u just get a jab that lasts a while etc but my YO said its a course of injections if pony hasnt been done before needs more than one

My pony is 5 and she came from loving home i wud imagine she wuda had then usual done
I will try contact previous owner bt nt sure if i will get reply before vet comes

Also im nt doing the joint flu iv jus asked for tet its only £16 and no call out cz thers a few of us

Can i jus go ahead do u think ?

Have you got the ponies passport? Any medical treatment including vaccinations should be in that. If not its one injection then another approx four weeks later then at a year then every two years.

Ill jus go get it and double chek case im being dopey !
If she hasnt been done
Im not sure how ill manage to do the 2nd dose i wont be able to afford the call out at mo !

My vets don't ask for payment til month after its been done so that might give you some time to find the cash. If its not done after that 4 weeks or so you'll have to start from the beginning again so its important to get them done on time hope you find them in the passport

I think they do a clinic that i cud hopefully join in on then wont have to pay call out ! Ill email them in morn and explain situation
Im so daft i thught tet was compleltey diff from flu i jus always assumed was a one off thing !

You have up to 6 weeks from the first to get the second one done if that makes it any easier for you.

Phew yea that helps a lot !!! 6 weeks it quite a gap ! My life is so hectic aswell as the money side

Ok well good news i gt a def answer from prev owner and no she hasnt been jabbed ! So at least i know for sure !

Some vets do free call outs on certain days and some will vac them in the trailer in the vets car park - call out for me is £40 so well worth me taking them in.

Mine had a tet jab last week after an accident and I knew I didn't bring his passport the last time he had one. The vet asked me on the phone what his passport says because some are 3yrs and some are two. For mine it's every two yrs. I think it's just dependent on the drug used.

I remember the first two were a month apart. Then another after a year. He had another 2yrs later but my old vet passed away and I don't have access to the records as the business was closed, so we had a booster just to be sure.
