How should I tether my horse in the trailer when there is no partition in? I thought I should tie him at either side to ensure he stays in the middle but I'm not sure if this is right- help! :O We've been having a few issues with him throwing himself at the partition lately after nearly a year of perfect travelling- quite bizarre really! :( Anyway, we've decided to try some full breast bars tomorrow but I've never used them before- will let you know how we get on! :D

I think a lot of people cross tie in trailers when no partition is used but I used to tie up to the left hand tie ring, not tightly but tight enough to stop him 'strangling' himself on the rope! My thoughts behind this was that if I cross tield he wouldnt be able to position himself diagonally, which is what most seem to do and tieing him to the left ring enabled him to travel sort of herringbone as he would in a wagon. I wouldnt leave your horse untied though.

been stalking you now haa haa! :D We have no partition and know several people that do, we all cross tie them which is when they are tyed loosely-ish :D on both sides and then clipped to either side of the headcollar, means they can move their back end and front end a bit (Harry still stands diaganol and poos in the corner ;);)) but they cant turn around and jump out! :D:D:D
See you on sunday red!!! :):):):)

Cross tie. Not tightly, really just as you would if you were tying with one rope and a partition in. Just enough to stop them trying to turn round. They can still get positioned diagonally to help them balance.

Definitely cross-tie. On the occassion I only tied on one side the horse managed to half turn round & had himself wedged across the box, even though he was tied shortish.
